Gini-vineyards-5.jpg

The Gini family, with roots dating back centuries in the renowned Soave Classico region, cultivates a verdant expanse of 35 hectares of ancient vineyards nestled in the heart of Monteforte. Their top crus Froscà Contrada Salvarenza and Col Foscarin are located in the premier hillside locations of the appellation, blessed with excellent sun exposure. Through their exacting viticultural practices, including minimal yields and a philosophy of minimal intervention, combined with a dedication to capturing the unique nuances of the terroir, the wines produced at Gini are a testament to unparalleled excellence, garnering recognition as some of the finest Soaves and elite white wines of Italy.

The Gini estate embodies a harmonious balance of tradition and modernity, as exemplified by their hand-harvested Soave Classicos, crafted with meticulous care from their old Garganega grapes, a departure from the common practice of blending inferior varietals. Adhering to natural agricultural methods, the Gini estate practices fully organic viticulture and biodynamic principles, guiding vineyard management, including pruning in accordance with lunar phases, integrated pest and disease control without the use of insecticides, utilizing copper and sulfur-based products to combat fungus, and enriching the soil with organic fertilizers. Spontaneous cover crops are left to flourish between rows, with the grass left in place, and the soil is not tilled. Minimal amounts of sulfur dioxide are added to the wine post-fermentation and prior to bottling to preserve the wine's inherent integrity.

Gini Soave Classico

This wine brings together the best expressions of our vineyards, a single bottle to express the aromas and the flavours of our land harmoniously. The mention “Classico” distinguishes the Soave made from vineyards standing in the historical hilly area where Garganega grapes are traditionally grown.

Appellation: Soave Classico DOC

Varietal: 100% Garganega

Average age of vines: 90 years

Vineyards: In Monteforte d'Alpone.

Soil type: Volcanic rocks and calcareous

Winemaking: Following strict selection of 100% hand-harvested fruit, the grapes are soft pressed, and the must is then immediately cooled. Thereafter, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.

Aging: 6 months in stainless stell vat and 2 months in the bottle, lending richness and complexity.

Notes: This is remarkably pretty with yellow flowers, wet stone and freshly sliced pear. This is mineral and focused upon entry, with perfumed orchard fruits and a salty flourish that returns toward the close. Pear and peach skins resonate, as this tapers off lightly structured with an almost-herbal tea-like quality. The Classico is a blend of some of the region’s top vineyards with an average vine age of 90 years. – Vinous.

Varietal: 100% Garganega

Age of vines:  90 years +

Vineyard: The historical Froscà cru was planted in 1930. 6 hectare plot of 90-year-old Garganega.

Soil: calcareous and tuffaceous (volcanic).

Winemaking: The fruit goes through a soft pressing and immediate cooling of the must.

Fermentation: 80% of the bulk in stainless steel vat, 20% in oak barrel.

Aging: 6 months in stainles steel vat, 6 months in barrel and 6 months in the bottiglia.

Notes: One of the iconic wines of the denomination, this gorgeous, polished white opens with enticing scents of yellow stone fruit, summer wildflowers and hay along with a whiff of wet slate. Elegantly structured, the delicious palate doles out ripe apricot, white peach and tangerine drop candy before a savory— almost salty—almond finish. While it’s wonderful now, it will continue to evolve and age beautifully for years. – Wine Enthusiast

Gini-Contrada-Salvarenza-Vecchie-Vigne-Soave.jpg

Gini Contrada Salvarenza "Vecchie Vigne" Soave Classico

Sumptuousness from centenaries-old vineyards. Legend has it that the name “Salvarenza” relates to a young female named Renza who, threa- tened by bandits, was saved by a noble knight in the area where the variety for this great Cru is produced. The vineyards are over 100 years old and the wine suitable for prolonged ageing.

Appellation: Soave Classico Doc

Varietal: 100% Garganega

Age of vines: 100 years +

Vineyard: Salvarenza is a tiny sub-plot of the La Froscà Cru and home to the Gini’s centenarian vines, some of which are prephylloxera.

Soil: Calcareous venature with small tufaceous layers.

Exposition: South-east orientation.

Winemaking: Fermented with ambient yeasts. 50% of the bulk in barrel, 50% in barrique. Malolactic fermentation and aging in oak.

Aging: 9 months in barrel, 9 months in barrique, 12 months in stainless steel vat and 6 months in the bottle.

Remark: No sulfites are added to the grape must prior to fermentation; Sandro Gini was the first in Italy to try this method in 1985

Notes: The 2019 Soave Classico Contrada Salvarenza Vecchie Vigne is wonderfully perfumed (whimsical comes to mind), with yellow flowers giving way to slate and crushed apple. This soothes with its silky textures and ripe orchard fruits, all carried across a core of minerals and brisk acids that adds an almost-salty-sweet quality. This tapers off long and floral with persistent fruit and hints of sour lime. – Vinous.

Gini-Sorai-verona-bianco.jpg

Gini "Sorai" Verona Bianco

The name comes from the Veronese dialect "Sora" which means "above". At 500 meters above sea level, where the air is thinner and the light clearer, the vineyards take root in the white rock, creating a "high-class" white wine.

Appellation: Bianco Verona IGT

Varietals: Riesling Renano, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Garganega.

Vineyards: In Campiano.

Altitude: 500 m.

Vinification: Fermentation in Barrique.

Aging: 9 months in Barrique with stirring on the lees and at least 8 months in the bottle.

Notes: More out of fun and the joy of experimenting, the Fratelli Gini have planted Chardonnay in the high Valpolicella vineyard, which is especially suitable for it, almost 30 years ago. Later, Pinot Bianco, Garganega, and Durella were added. Today, as the vines slowly grow into the right age, grapes of great mineral richness flourish, which is the prerequisite for exciting white wine.

The aromas are of great delicacy, clearly defined and lively fresh. The Sorai flatters the palate with a soft, velvety attack, showing appetizing breed and long-lasting melting in the finish.

Gini-Maciete-Fume-Sauvignon-Blanc.jpg

Gini "Maciete Fumé" Sauvignon Blanc

Maciéte in Veronese dialect means a "small spot" as in a small area of land. A limited production for true connoisseurs, eager to discover the different temperaments a Sauvignon can express. Extraordinary mineral sensations are the contour of an aromatic delicate and seductive picture.

Appellation: Veneto IGT

Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Vineyards: In Campiano.

Soil: Clayey calcareous mixture

Altitude: 500 m.

Fermentation: 50% of the bulk in large cask, 50% in barrique.

Aging: 8 months in barrique and at least 6 months in the bottle.

Notes: his wine has a brilliant straw yellow color with greenish reflections, an elegant nose with mineral tones, and an ample and fresh taste with a fine varietal composition that includes mineral notes, apple and hawthorn notes, and a vanilla finish.

Gini-Camillo-Spumante-Traditional-Method.jpg

Gini "Camillo" Spumante Traditional Method - Brut Millesimato

A refined bubble, a wine with a mineral structure able to surprise with unexpected aromas donated by the blend of Garganega, Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes. A product that comes from a slow processing (at least 6 years on its own yeasts) for an extended vitality and freshness.

Varietals: 33% Garganega, 33% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Nero.

Vineyard: Monteforte d'Alpone

Terroir: 70 years-old Garganego on Volcanic rocks and calcareous soil; 30 years-old Chardonnay on Clay calcareous soil; 30 years old Pinot Noir on a clay-limestone soil.

Vinification: The grapes of the different varieties are harvested separately and are soft pressed so

as to obtain only the first run of the must which is used for the production of the base wines. When

the fermentation process is finished these base wines are blended in order to obtain the cuvée which is then turned into sparkling wine by the traditional method.

Maturation: After bottling, the wine is placed in a cool cellar hewn out of the volcanic rock where

in the following 6 years the wine will develop that extraordinary bouquet typical of fine high-quality

Spumante which matures on the lees for a long time.

Notes: This wine exhibits a straw yellow color with a dense, fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it is fresh, complex and ample. On the palate, it is well balanced between the mature tones and the refreshing acidity, creating a harmonious and delightful experience.

Gini-Campo-alle-More-Pinot-Nero .jpg

Gini "Campo alle More" Pinot Nero

The high hill, the excellent sun exposure and the brambles of wild blackberries that surround it, create the perfect habitat for these precious and delicate vineyards. This Pinot Noir, with fruity notes of extraordinary complexity, is a persuasive and sensual wine.

Appellation: Veneto IGT

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir

Vineyards: In Campiano.

Soil: Clayey calcareous mixture.

Altitude: 500 m.

Winemaking: 20 days of punching down at least 3 times a day, fermentation in stainless steel vat.

Aging: 2 years in barrique and at least 8 months in the bottle.

Notes: This wine boasts a brilliant ruby red hue, and presents an extraordinary complexity on the nose with a dynamic succession of spicy red woodland fruit and wild cherry notes. On the palate, it is particularly rich and fresh for a Pinot Noir, displaying a full and velvety mouthfeel, and an air of great elegance.

Gini-Le-Mattoline-Valpolicella-Superiore.jpg

GINI "Le Mattoline" Valpolicella Superiore

This wine contains in itself the great potential of these unique portions of land in Valpolicella. Expressing itself with extraordinary grace and harmony, it evokes the melody of the Mattoline (morning larks), that nest only in uncontaminated lands like ours.

Appellation: Valpolicella Superiore DOC

Varietals: 60% Corvina, 25% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta.

Vineyards: In Campiano.

Altitude: All varietals grown above 500m.

Soil: Clay - calcareous with volcanic lapilli

Winemaking: 3-4 days with punching down and pumping over several times a day. Fermentation in Stainless steel vat.

Aging: 2 years in french oak cask, than 1 year in stainless steel vat and following at least 6 months in the bottle.

Notes: From the bouquet alone, you’d think that the ‘Le Mattoline’ is an Amarone, not a Valpolicella Superiore. Here I find masses of medicinal cherries, cloves, licorice and potpourri. However, on the palate, this leans more toward the savory spectrum, coming across as remarkably pure and energetic, with tart wild berries and spices saturating yet then refreshed by nervous acidity. There’s a cheek-puckering feel through the finale, as notes of cranberry and sour citrus resonate beneath an air of violet florals. – Vinous.

Gini-Scajari-Amarone-della-Valpolicella-Riserva.jpg

Gini "Scajari" Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva

Among the stone flakes which identify Campiano's grounds, our vines are rooted in unique mineral stratifications. A complex and seductive Amarone is born, with notes of cherries and blackberries, refined for years while keeping intact freshness and elegance.

Appellation: Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG

Varietals: 60% Corvina, 25% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta.

Vineyards: In Campiano.

Altitude: All varietals grown above 500m,

Soil: Clay - calcareous with volcanic lapilli

Winemaking: 3-4 days with punching down and pumping over several times a day. Fermentation in Stainless steel vat.

Aging: First months in stainless steel vat, than 5 years in french oak cask for a part of the bulk and the other part in barrique, than at least 6 months in the bottle.

Notes: It’s silky and pure with a savory display of pure red fruits and inner herbal tones, as cooling minerality collects toward the close. There’s wonderful symmetry here, tapering off remarkably fresh yet also with a coating of fine tannins, which should carry the Scajari for another decade or more in a cool cellar. That said, it is not the extra-powerful or extroverted expression of Amarone, because this is all about elegance and poise.
