CANTINE DEI
TUSCANY / MONTEPULCIANO
In 1964, Cantine Dei's grandfather, Alibrando Dei, acquired the land in Bossona. Little did he know, he had discovered an unparalleled terroir, perfectly suited for cultivating exceptional red wines. In the 1970s, the family expanded their holdings by procuring Villa Martiena and neighboring vineyards, solidifying their dedication to creating wines that embodied the essence of Montepulciano's terroir. In 1985, during an extraordinary vintage, the Dei family released their inaugural bottle of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the fruition of years of tireless labor, devotion, and an intimate understanding of the land.
Presently, Cantine Dei is presided over by Alibrando's granddaughter, Caterina Dei, a gifted viticulturist. Caterina's formative years were spent wandering the Montepulciano countryside, imbuing in her a profound affection for the region and its wines. In the early 90s, she migrated to Montepulciano to tend to the vineyards and winery founded by her grandfather, resolved to perpetuate his legacy and create wines that embodied the terroir. Forever enamored with the natural splendor and architectural heritage of her 16th-century village, Caterina understood that her wines were meant to accentuate and convey the unique characteristics of a land renowned for its charm and history. Together with her technical director and winemaking virtuoso Paolo Caciorgna, Caterina's paramount goal has always been to produce wines of exceptional elegance and quality that encapsulate the terroir by utilizing native grape varieties and the incomparable quality of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
The Dei family's unwavering commitment to excellence is manifest in every bottle they produce. This impeccably run Tuscan estate consistently sets a new standard, leaving their Montalcino counterparts in its wake.

Our rosé comes from the "Martiena" vineyard, which is located in front of the winery and whose grapes are therefore the first to reach the reception area during the harvest. CANTINE DEI 'BOSSONA' VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO Riserva
Vino Nobile Riserva Bossona is one of the highest expressions of our land. Its grapes come from the vineyard of the same name, one of the most suitable, planted by Caterina's grandfather, Alibrando, in 1961. The wine became a Riserva in 1999, after long ageing in wood and in the bottle. It is without doubt one of the estate's flagship wines, a symbol of the elegance and grace of Sangiovese in Montepulciano. The yields are very low (about 40 quintals per hectare) and the wine is bottled with the label Bossona Riserva only in the best vintages.
Appellation: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G.
Variety: 100% Sangiovese

Farming: Organic
Soil Type: Soil of Pliocene origin, dating back 2.5-5 million years. It is rich in tuff, skeleton and fossils, which are not only well-draining but also give the wine structure and minerality.
Vinification: After careful selection of the grapes soft pressing follows, followed by fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C and maceration on the skins for 28-30 days with pumping over
Aging: Maturation for 36 months of which at least 20 is in tonneaux, followed by a period of refinement in the bottle.
Aging Potential: About 25 years.
Notes: A wine with a complex, elegant and balanced structure. Ruby in colour tending towards garnet, with intense and elegant aromas, with hints of violets, underbrush and spices, it has a character of finesse, with firm, velvety tannins and a long, deep finish.

CANTINE DEI ‘MADONNA DELLA QUERCE’ VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO
Caterina considers this wine to be the jewel in the crown of our entire production, which is why she has decided to dedicate it to her father Glauco: at the bottom of the label you can see "to my father", a fitting tribute to the figure who has been a reference point for the growth of the winery. In 2015, the vineyard from which the grapes originate reached maturity and, as a result, all the requisites are now in place to obtain a great wine with long ageing potential.
Appellation: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G.
Variety: 100% Sangiovese
Terroir: La Piaggia vineyard, a small plot of one and a half hectares with soil and climate characteristics highly suited to Sangiovese.
Farming: Organic
Soil Type: The soil is of Pliocene origin, dating back 2.5-5 million years. The texture is homogeneous, consisting of an alternation of tufaceous clay and sand
Vinification: After careful selection of the grapes, soft pressing follows. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C. Maceration on the skins lasts for 28-30 days, with pumping over.
Aging: At least 20 months in large casks followed by a period of refinement in the bottle.
Aging Potential: About 25 years.
Notes: Intense and deep ruby red in colour, the noble Madonna della Querce presents a broad and fascinating nose. Varietal notes dominate, with ripe red fruit and jams, all accompanied by the spicy scent of wood, which remains in the background. The link between nose and palate is perfect. In the mouth it is ethereal, long and mineral, the tannins are well made, dense and elegant. A deeper analysis reveals a medium alcohol content and excellent levels of acidity and extractive substances. A wine that stands out above all for its elegance and refinement.
